The history of atomic theory 9/2/11

Hey hey its the birthday girl on blogger!!!!! Today ima tell u about atomic theory I know it sounds boring but look at it this way u get to learn about Democritus and u get to learn about how the atomic model has changed!!! i know i know boring still??? well let me share some info. about him see if you will catch up.

- The atomic model has changed through-out the centuries, starting in 400 B.C. when it look like a billiard ball. its not the ball i was expecting but its good enough!
- OK now lets go to Democritus i know that was a short paragraph but lets get to the interesting part. Democritus was a Greek philosopher who began the search for a description of matter more than 2400 years ago. He asked if matter could be divided into smaller pieces forever. but the piece would be invisible right! duh! He name the smallest piece of matter ''atomos'' meaning ''not to be cut''.
- OK to Democritus from anijah let me say this slowly so u can understand it atoms were small hard particles that were all made of the same material but were different shapes and sizes.here is an example of Democritus it has 400 B.C . did u guys know the word atom comes from the word atomos which means indivisible. the idea that all matter is made up of atoms was first proposed by the Greek philosopher Democritus in the 5th century B.C .
